Two giants of the Chinese electric car industry, Nio and Geely via the Polestar brand, are ready to diversify their offer by entering the smartphone arena. Here, we are interested in the future Nio Phone. Clues point to a high-end device, and a render of the device has reportedly been released.

Nio: a possible collaboration with Oppo/OnePlus?

It is common knowledge that Nio’s next smartphone will be high-end. The latest information, gleaned via benchmark tools and a rendering spotted on Weibo, the Chinese social network, gives a more precise idea of what the manufacturer is preparing.

But one detail attracts particular attention: the striking resemblance of the Nio Phone to the OnePlus 11, leaving room for speculation about a possible collaboration with Oppo/OnePlus (BBK Electronics).

So the Nio Phone will be modeled on the Furur OnePlus 12. We can therefore expect a well-equipped Nio Phone. The device could boast a 120 Hz AMOLED screen with a definition of 1440p+, coupled with a robust 5,000 mAh battery with 100 watts fast charging. On the photo side, we are talking about a triple 50 megapixel sensor.

Under the hood, the smartphone would be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, with RAM ranging between 12 GB and 16 GB, and flash storage of up to 1 TB.

Extensive integration with Nio electric vehicles

If the spec battle is key, Nio could have a distinctive advantage up its sleeve: the integration of its smartphone with its electric cars. The Nio Phone software could deeply integrate the functionalities of the brand’s vehicles. It is possible to imagine scenarios where users could remotely control multiple aspects of their car, receive real-time diagnostics or even personalize the driving experience via their smartphone.

This software approach could not only position the Nio Phone as an indispensable tool for Nio car owners, but also give the brand a distinctive competitive advantage in a smartphone market where hardware differentiation is becoming increasingly tenuous.
