Actually, the Xbox Series S was supposed to complement my PS5 so that I could really take advantage of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. But the joy didn’t last long. I quickly sold them again. And that despite the fact that the console wasn’t even the real problem.

The release of the PlayStation 5 will probably always be marked by the pre-order chaos and the delivery bottlenecks, and even now, around six months later, the consoles are damn tight. Things don’t look much better at Microsoft either, the Xbox Series X in particular is usually out of stock. Nevertheless, I was lucky and was able to secure not only the PS5, but also an Xbox Series S.
Maybe you’ll already notice that I’m still never a fan of any particular platform was. My passion for gaming started with the C64 and spread to the Game Boy, Nintendo 64, PlayStation 1, Xbox 360 and other consoles. I now play a lot on the PC myself, but I also love to lounge comfortably on the sofa, fire up a console and pick up the controller – but that’s exactly where the problem lies for me.
Everything about Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5:
This has nothing to do with next-gen, Microsoft!
I was really looking forward to my new Xbox console. As a Game Pass Ultimate user, I have access to Hundreds of games on both PC and console – the perfect starting point. When I then placed the console next to my PS5, I felt a sense of happiness and nodded confidently, but when I picked up the controller, my joy quickly faded.
How so? Why is Microsoft adding the lavishly advertised next-gen console with a cheap piece of plastic? The included Xbox controller feels anything but premium, more like a cheap knockoff. The buttons click loudly and feel like they’re about to fall out of the controller – an absolute no-go!
Why doesn’t Microsoft just take a cue from the PS5’s new DualSense controller? Not only does it feel much better in the hand, it also has the perfect weight for me and also looks damn nice. And the haptic feedback, the adaptive triggers, the motion sensor and the integrated microphone also ensure a real next-gen feeling.
Oh yes, and one more question, dear Xbox team: Who came up with the idea of still running the controllers on batteries by default?! For me, that has absolutely nothing to do with next-gen, especially since batteries are anything but environmentally friendly. Too often they end up in household waste cause defective deviceswhen they expire. Sony also solves this much better with the PlayStation controller. Thanks to the charging station, I can charge it quickly and easily – perfect!
All of this affects my gaming fun on the Xbox Series S so negatively that I ultimately decided against the console – too bad!

Xbox Series: There could have been more
The fact that I have now decided against the Xbox Series X|S does not mean that I will not give the console another chance. I think have both Sony and Microsoft unique games and especially with a Game Pass Ultimate, the selection on the Xbox is impressive.
So Microsoft, if you give your old controller a phat design upgrade and switch from batteries to rechargeable batteries, I will definitely buy your consoles again – don’t let me down!
