This keyboard and mouse don’t just have a pretty face

Dell Alienware unveils its first accessories for professionals: a wireless keyboard and mouse designed for optimal performance.

Regarding the keyboard/mouse combo, there are several schools. Aesthetes who focus everything on design, pragmatists who swear by additional macro keys or even “ pro gamers » who want unfailing precision and speed to gain that quarter of a millisecond which will make the difference between a headshot precision planted in 360 no-scope and a dark loading screen displaying “You are dead» in letters of blood.

As such, Alienware is launching its first line of accessories designed for this latter category of people. This can be seen even in the names of these products: Alienware Pro Wireless Mouse and Alienware Pro Wireless Keyboard.

A keyboard for professionals

Let’s start with the keyboard. No frills here, this is a 75% custom TKL format with no added touches. The only decoration that Alienware allows is RGB backlighting, it must be remembered that this is a gaming peripheral.

Behind this successful minimalist design hides fine mechanics. The transparent and pre-lubricated linear mechanical switches require a very precise activation force of 40 grams to quickly register the action, the rods are made of polyoxymethylene and two layers of silicone dampen the echo. Enough to create an effective strike that is pleasant to listen to.

Don’t like those custom switches and prefer to trust your beloved Cherry? No matter, Alienware has thought of everything and has equipped its keyboard so that it can accommodate the majority of 3-pin or 5-pin switches on the market. The extraction tool even comes with the keyboard!

The Alienware Pro Wireless Keyboard can be connected via USB-C, Bluetooth 5.1 (up to 3 devices simultaneously with a button to quickly change them), or with a more efficient 2.4 GHz dongle. Alienware promises a polling rate of 1000 Hz with the latter connectivity or wired.

In terms of battery life, count on 72 hours at 2.4 GHz with RGB set to 50% or up to 798 hours without backlighting.

A mouse for professionals

The mouse now. Alienware promises a design that can suit all types of grips ( palm, claw Or fingertip) and all sizes of minimines, all for a weight of less than 60 grams, good balance between mobility and stability. Although symmetrical in its format, it is not entirely ambidextrous since its additional buttons are only found on the left edge.

In terms of performance, the sensor of this Pro Wireless Mouse displays a tracking speed of 650 IPS, acceleration to 50G and up to 26,000 DPI. Like the latest mice designed for Pros, its polling rate (the frequency of communication between the mouse and the computer) goes up to 4000 Hz wirelessly (for a response time of 0.25 ms) and double (8000 Hz for 0.125 ms) wired. For comparison, traditional mice tend to run around 1000 Hz.

In order to come first at the world championshipsCookie Clickeryou can also count on the rapid rebound of the buttons thanks to a magnetic force quickly pushing your finger back once the click is registered, thus avoiding the button “glue» with the mouse.

Concerning autonomy, count 32 hours at onepolling rate4000 Hz and 120 hours at 1000 Hz if web browsing is your thing.
