Recycle plastic waste to make a laptop, and why not? With a quantity of between 75 and 199 million tonnes, plastic represents 85% of the polluting residues present in the seabed, according to the Ministry of Ecology.

To overcome this problem, Acer offers, with its Aspire Vero, to use these plastic elements and integrate them into its new laptops. To this, the manufacturer adds a high repairability index (greater than 8/10) on its new PC, as on the entire Vero range, in addition to an attractive technical sheet. Better, this computer is offered under the bar of 900 euros.

A PC made to last

What makes the Acer Aspire Vero PC a more eco-friendly computer? The answer lies first in its chassis, which is made of 30% PCR plastic (Post-Consumer Recycled). The keyboard also benefits 50% from the use of this recycled material. Finally, the touchpad is also made of a recycled plastic with the smooth appearance of glass called OceanGlass, also from the seabed. A specific alloy to offer the same navigation comfort to the user as if he were using a touchpad made of a more conventional material.

Beyond the box, Acer has also strongly emphasized the evolutionary aspect of its new product. Say goodbye to frames that are difficult to open and inaccessible components. The Aspire Vero (AV14-51) has on the contrary been designed to allow the user, novice or not, to easily change machine components such as RAM or SSD. Sealed with standard Phillips-head (Phillips) screws, the chassis opens quickly, so you can upgrade your PC to maintain its power and speed over the years. An advantage that contributes to the very good repairability index of 8.2/10.

Under the chassis, performance

And if the form was neat, it is the same for the bottom. Because beyond the durability of the chassis, the Acer Aspire Vero (AV14-51) has a technical sheet of the most worked.

Its 14-inch matte IPS LCD panel is equipped with Acer ComfyView technology which limits the presence of reflections. The screen occupancy rate is 88% of the dedicated space and the manufacturer provides 100% coverage of the sRGB color space. A good point that promises accurate and flattering color visualization.

Under the chassis, there is also a 12th generation Intel Core i5 1235U processor, 16 GB of RAM and an SSD with no less than 512 GB of storage space. A comfortable configuration and powerful enough to handle multitasking, even some editing software that is a bit resource-intensive.

The connectors are also not left out. With in particular a Thunderbolt 4 port, an HDMI 2.1 port, 1 USB Type-C port and two USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports, the Acer Aspire Vero is a particularly well-equipped laptop PC. Better, one of the USB-C ports (Thunderbolt 4) can be used to charge mobile devices, even when the machine is off.

Finally, on the endurance side, the Acer Aspire Vero is able to last almost 11 hours without going through the loading box. It benefits from fast charging and can go from 0 to 50% battery in just under thirty minutes. An ideal configuration for those who want to work from anywhere, without necessarily having to think about connecting their equipment.

Acer Aspire Vero, a complete range for all budgets

Far from being the only representative of its kind, the 14-inch Aspire Vero is part of a range rich in different formats and configurations. The Acer laptop PC, for example, comes with a screen size of 15.6 inches for those who need a nice visual space to work or relax. The configuration is also customizable with the choice of the amount of RAM (from 8 to 16) and the capacity of the SSD (256, 512 GB or 1 TB of storage). Better, if its screen is larger, it also incorporates 10% more recycled plastic in its frame and its monitor is made of 85% PCR recycled plastic. Acer finally offers the Vero model in a Chromebook version.

The Aspire Vero PC (AV14-51) is available at Fnac for 899 euros.
