DECRYPTION – The government is sounding the end of “mercenary” doctors, even if it leads to temporary closures.

Storm warning at the hospital from April 3. In three weeks, hospitals will have to cap the salary of interim doctors at 1,170 euros gross for 24-hour duty, under penalty of legal action. A level that may already seem high. But what is rare is expensive: the shortage of doctors, competition from the private sector, and the obligation of hospitals to ensure continuity of care lead some establishments to sometimes pay 2,000 to 3,000 euros for a 24-hour call, for little whether it falls during the holiday season or in the heart of summer.
