The rumors that appeared in recent days on the Web were true! In a few weeks, players will be able to discover Lego 2K Drive, a title that promises to bring together Lego, Minecraft or Forza Horizon.

The developers at Visual Concepts have even announced a release date and planned content over time.

On your marks, get set, brick!

It has been many years since the concept of the open world racing game has proven itself. From Forza Horizon to The Crew, many productions have offered players the opportunity to leave the circuits to explore the roads. 2K Games has therefore looked into the subject and has just announced Lego 2K Drive, which will arrive on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on May 19. We are already promised a story to follow, challenges in all directions, things to collect and, of course, many races. Lego obliges, players can count on a catalog of more than 1,000 official Lego pieces to create their own vehicles.

Developed by the studio to which we owe NBA 2K and WWE 2K, Lego 2K Drive is presented as an ambitious project. Visual Concepts speaks indeed of the “ultimate” AAA racing and adventure game, which draws as much on the fun of a Mario Kart as on the scale of a Forza Horizon, seasoning everything with a little The Crew (Ubisoft). The scripted content can be browsed solo or in cooperation, with the idea of allowing the youngest to enjoy the content with the older ones.

A risky bet?

Lego 2K Drive is officially the publisher’s first game produced in partnership with Lego. In parallel with the announcement, 2K has already put forward bonuses in the various editions, but also and above all a Year 1 Driving Pass, in which we will find a new biome, four seasons of content, themes or even vehicles. unpublished.

If TT Games has built a solid reputation with its Lego games as evidenced by the box of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, 2K will however have to prove itself and succeed in making a name for itself in the landscape, only a week later. the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (May 12). The first previews show a resolutely arcade title and quite promising, but we will have to wait a little longer to see if it will succeed in seducing the public.
