It was during last night’s State of Play that we learned of the upcoming release of Marvel Rivals on consoles. The hero shooter from the universe of Maison des Idées will soon be entitled to a closed beta on PS5 and revealed to us some new features to come during the Sony event.
Marvel Rivals is coming to consoles
We obviously expected it, this time it’s official: Marvel Rivals will indeed benefit from a console version. The hero shooter developed by NetEase Games made its appearance during Sony’s latest State of Play with a new gameplay trailer allowing us to see the destruction of the environment, the different skills of our favorite superheroes and all the inspiration for the game drawn from Overwatch.
But even if the lineage is ambiguous, Marvel Rivals intends to do well by exploiting the different franchises of the House of Ideas in the best possible way. The app has a roster made up of varied heroes, while new characters have been confirmed: Adam Warlock and Venom. In addition, Marvel Rivals also wants to show us locations never before explored in Marvel games, such as Asgard or Tokyo 2099.

A closed beta planned for PS5
If the purpose of this appearance was to confirm the release of the game on consoles, it also allowed us to learn of the existence of a closed beta launching soon on PS5 – and potentially on Xbox. So, from this summer, in July to be precise, a few lucky players will have the pleasure of discovering the software for the first time. Additionally, PS5 players will also be able to pick up an exclusive alternate skin for Spider-Man inspired by Kaine Parker’s Scarlet Spider outfit.
