In the past, Tesla has repeatedly set impressive track speed records, including with the Model S Plaid. This was the case in June 2021, with 400 meters covered in just 9.2 seconds. The car set another performance in September 2021 on the famous German Nürburgring Nordschleife track by covering 20 km in just 7 minutes and 30 seconds.

But please note that this was a version dedicated to the public. In other words, she wasn’t specifically prepared. If you’re curious about what a race-ready Tesla can do, you have to be interested in the work of Unplugged Performance. This American company, founded in 2013, is considered the world leader in improving the performance of Tesla vehicles.

With our line of stylish, high-performance parts made in the USA, we are solely focused on the holistic development and improvement of all Tesla cars.” can we read on the official website of the company.

After the crash, the rebirth of a race-ready Tesla Model 3

On the official Unplugged Performance YouTube channel, you can admire the work carried out by the company’s teams on Tesla Model S Plaid and Model 3 fully prepared for the circuit. In 2020, driver Randy Probst boarded a custom Model 3, aiming to practice one last time on the Pikes Peak course before taking position on the start line.

During this test and after only 1 min 30, the car swerves around a bend and ends up in the ditch. Fortunately, the pilot escapes unscathed. “The car and our safety equipment did the vital job of protecting Randy,” writes Unplugged Performance.

Two years later, and while we had no more news about this Model 3, Unplugged Performance has just announced on Instagram that they have rebuilt the car, to make it “better, stronger, faster“. This Model 3, baptized Bionic Phoenixsports a carbon fiber body, with a gigantic front splitter and huge rear wing, which according to Unplugged Performance, allows it to reach an aerodynamic downforce of 2 tons at high speed.

To reduce the vehicle’s weight as much as possible, the standard windows were replaced by Lexan (polycarbonate), the interior was completely stripped and maximum metal body parts have been removed in favor of carbon panels. Finally, the preparers opted for UP-03 13″ forged wheels for optimal grip. For the moment, Unplugged Performance has not yet revealed its plans for the Bionic Phenix, but we suspect that we should see it return to the track in a short time.
