No longer able to stand the repeated insults from her mother-in-law during the holidays, this mother decided to drug her without her knowledge to give herself a little respite. A decision of which she is not very proud but which she does not seem to regret.
Family relationships can sometimes be complicated. They are even more so when it involves different families, as is the case in the case of a marital union. A configuration in which relationships between the spouse and the in-laws can be explosive. This is particularly the case between a mother-in-law and a daughter-in-law for example, to the point that there are many literary, theatrical or even cinematographic works that depict this type of relationship. But this disagreement does indeed take place in reality as well.
This mother experienced it during a stay to which she, her husband and her three children were invited by her mother-in-law and her partner. An invitation impossible to refuse according to the young woman, despite the tensions which characterize her relationship with her husband’s mother. “Long story short, this woman drives me crazy, but I usually just smile and put up with it for the sake of my family,” confides the mother.

A day of ordeal
At the start of the stay, the mother explains that she manages to keep her calm and good humor, mainly because the very busy schedule of her small family allows her to spend time with her mother-in-law only for a fairly limited time and mainly in the evening. Everything was going well, until her father-in-law offered her husband a day of fishing in which the children could also participate.. The mother shuddered at the idea of having to stay alone for a whole day with her baby and her mother-in-law.
No question of spoiling the fun of her children, visibly delighted at the idea of a good fishing trip: she therefore accepts, smiling.. Not knowing how to delicately refuse her mother-in-law’s invitation, she therefore agrees to go out for lunch and shopping. It was then that the situation became unbearable for this mother who saw herself criticized at all costs by her mother-in-law, who notably advised her to do without butter on her toast to regain her pre-pregnancy figure.

An evil plan
The shopping trip that followed didn’t turn out to be any more pleasant. “She constantly insulted me,” sums up the young woman. Back home, the mother felt deep distress when she read the message from her husband explaining to her that they would come back late because they were having a great time.. “The thought of sitting with Jane for a few more hours was overwhelming me.”, she remembers. Taking advantage of the fact that her mother-in-law is complaining of coughing fits, she decides to put a plan into action: give her son’s antihistamines to her mother-in-law, passing them off as cough medicine. “It always makes him sleepy, so I thought I’d give it a try.”she confides.
It didn’t take long before her mother-in-law felt tired and went to rest. Enough to free up the rest of the afternoon for the mother who took the opportunity to read magazines and indulge in her beauty routine. “Jane emerged while I was making dinner, saying she didn’t know what had come over her. I’m not proud of what I did, but this woman is just pushing me over the edge. What what I learned is that if family is important, so are boundaries. We go on vacation alone now and I limit visits to my in-laws to a few hours. That I can manage without having to drug”, she explained in the columns of Kidspot.
