Insta360 has revealed its new 360-degree camera, the Insta360 X4, capable of shooting footage at 60fps in 4K or 100fps in 4K.
While the Chinese manufacturer Insta360 has diversified in recent months with more traditional action cams – whether the Ace, the Ace Pro or the Go 3 – it has not yet forgot its core target. This Tuesday, the firm presented its new 360-degree camera, the Insta360 X4.
Logically, this camera succeeds the Insta360 One X2 and X3 by allowing users to capture videos with a 360-degree field of view. To do this, the Insta360 X4 is equipped with two cameras with a 1/2-inch format sensor and a lens opening at f/1.9. Each of the two cameras is capable of recording 180-degree videos in 4K definition, which will allow, once the two video streams are assembled, to benefit from 8K definition.
In terms of frame rate, the Insta360 X4 offers up to 30 frames per second in 8K, 60 frames per second in 5.7K or 100 frames per second in 4K.
Videos that can be easily cropped after shooting
As always with Insta360 cameras, the main advantage of this type of camera will be, for videographers, to modify the field of vision in post-production using the manufacturer’s software. It is thus possible for users to choose a posteriori to which part of the image they want to crop, the software taking care of making the camera boom disappear. Furthermore, thanks to this particularly wide field of vision, it is particularly easy to stabilize the video using software in post-production.
In terms of format, the Insta360 Insta360 has also integrated a lens protection system which can be used to hide the camera when it is stored in a pocket or bag and thus prevent scratches.
The Insta360 X4 camera is already available. It is offered in France from 559.99 euros and as a kit with various accessories. For the kit with the pole, count 597 euros.
