This new adventure electric bike from Canyon packs a punch

Here is the Canyon Grizl:ON, the brand’s second electric gravel bike. We set off on an adventure with a more traditional format, with a more suitable Bosch SX motor.

After a first original Grail:ON, Canyon revisits its copy in the adventure gravel electric bike. Like the Precede:On, the adventurer returns to a more classic geometry, with a brand new name: Grizl:ON.

More conventional, but thanks to the Bosch SX

Goodbye to the long stem in the upper bar and the double handlebar, the Canyon Grizl:ON is conventional. Phew will say the purists, who will undoubtedly appreciate the integrated lighting by Lupine.

But if the name changes, it is also because the engine adopts a model more suited to gravel bikes. The Bosch Performance Line SX is in fact more compact and lighter than the CX, but less torquey (55 vs 85 Nm). As usual with this unit, the battery has a capacity of 400 Wh, with the option of a second 250 Wh battery possible.

The Grizl:ON offers four variations, all very different. The basic CF 7, like the others, has a carbon frame, enough to weigh less than 16 kg. It features a Shimano GRX RX812 12-speed cassette transmission, the S14 recoil saddle and a Rockshox Rudy suspension fork with 40 mm travel (sacrilege some might say). The CF 7 Daily is the derivative for those who like to ride sport, even when cycling. It is equipped with mudguards, kickstand and rear pannier racks, as well as an RX822 transmission.

More high-end and high-performance, the CF 9 adopts carbon wheels, a Sram Force XPLR AXS transmission-brake duo. Finally, the big brother “Trail”, with specific Schwalbe G-One Ultrabite tires and Sram telescopic saddle, prefers the Sram X0 Eagle AXS group.

The new Canyon electric gravel already available

The Canyon Grizl:ON begins its career on March 5, 2024. Its price starts at 4,999 euros on the CF 7 and peaks at 7,999 euros on the very high-end CF Trail. This electric gravel is available in partner resellers, as well as on the official website of the American brand.
