this new aid can reimburse 1,100 euros of rent in addition to CAF APL

Are you under 30 years old and a work-study student? Youth mobility assistance can cover part of your rent. Redesigned in 2024, it has been available again since February 15. Here’s what you need to know to take advantage of it.

Are you young, on a work-study program and are you changing your main residence to be closer to your job? You may be able to benefit from mobili-jeune, assistance from Action Logement which covers part of your rent.

Until now, this financial assistance was reserved for young tenants under the age of 30 in work-study vocational training (apprenticeship or professionalization contract) receiving the maximum minimum wage. It took the form of a subsidy, of between 10 and 100 euros per month after deduction of APL.

New criteria for benefiting from aid

Since Thursday February 15, the aid has had a new look. From now on, it is reserved for tenants under 30 years old, in work-study vocational training or employees of a company in the non-agricultural private sector, with a gross monthly salary less than or equal to 80% of the minimum wage.

You can thus benefit from mobility assistance if you change your main residence to be closer to your job, either with new accommodation more than 70km from your old address, or failing that, a length of travel time greater than 40 minutes between these two addresses, or by justifying a double rent charge (occupying two accommodations over the same period).

This aid, which can supplement the APL, varies from 10 euros to 100 euros and is capped at 1,100 euros per year of training. It can be requested over a maximum of two years of training, consecutive or not. For example, a student with a rent of 350 euros (charges included) and who receives 220 euros from APL will be able to claim youth mobility aid of 100 euros.
