Sabrent’s new dock fits many handheld consoles (not just the Steam Deck) while allowing for additional storage to be added.
The flagship accessory of the portable consoles of the moment (such as Steam Deck, ROG Ally) is certainly their docking station allowing them to be connected to an external screen as well as to use various additional peripherals such as a keyboard and a mouse.
Third-party manufacturers were quick to offer their own dock, like the Sabrent brand, which now offers the DS-SDNV docking station, an improved version of its DS-SD6P. Compatible with both the Steam Deck and other portable consoles on the market supporting DisplayPort Alternate via USB-C such as ROG Ally, but also AYANEO.
A dock with M.2 slot for SSD and NVMe
On the program, a classic, but complete connectivity offer: HDMI 2.0, a USB 2.0 port, a USB 3.0 Type-C port compatible with Power Delivery 3.0, two USB 3.2 ports and a Gigabit Ethernet port. So far, nothing very surprising.
This model pulls out of the game by offering an M.2 slot for SSD and nVME storage, which is not possible on the official models. The user can thus insert the support of his choice in the lower compartment in order to enlarge the storage of the machine as he wishes.
Note that the bandwidth here is limited to 5 Gbit/s. We will therefore use it more to install more games on our machine rather than to take advantage of the loading times of an ultra-fast NVMe.
The Sabrent 7-in-1 Steam Deck Dock should be available soon in France and has an indicative price of $79.99 across the Atlantic.
