The French brand Murena unveils a new smartphone that wants to respect the privacy of users.

This terminal will be offered in France from 349 euros.

An “alternative” Murena One smartphone

Because privacy management is at the heart of the concerns of many French people (and our smartphones are far from being exemplary in this area), the Murena brand unveils One, its new so-called “alternative” smartphone.
The Murena One is a smartphone designed to protect the privacy of its users by blocking the collection and transmission of data.

To do this, Murena opted for an interface called /e/OS, a “deGoogleized” version of the Android interface. The latter is still compatible with Android applications if the user wishes.

Visually, the Murena One smartphone is an altogether classic phone, built around a large 6.5-inch LCD screen (1080 x 2242 pixels). Under the hood, there is a Mediatek Helio 60 processor, coupled with 4 GB of RAM, not to mention a storage space of 128 GB (expandable via a microSD card).

The smartphone also has a main photo section driven by a 48 megapixel sensor, not to mention a 25 megapixel front camera as well as the usual connectivity: 4G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi…

The difference lies in the fact that the Murena One is powered by /e/OS (under Android 11), an ecosystem in which the designers have taken care of
remove a lot of software that sends personal data to remote servers. ”
We don’t scan your data in your phone or cloud space, and we don’t track your location hundreds of times a day or collect what you do with your apps “explains the brand.

The /e/OS interface runs on Android and comes with open-source applications that promise to cover most needs (web, mail, calendars, GPS, etc.). Of course, if needed, the user can still run most of their favorite Android apps. By default, /e/OS is synchronized with a free account whose email address is ” @murena.io “.

The Murena One smartphone will be available from September 28 at a price of 349 euros.
