this new smartphone from Asus has everything big, even the size

Asus presented its new high-end smartphone, the Zenfone 11 Ultra, which seems to draw more inspiration from the ROG Phone range than from its predecessor.

The announcement was expected and Asus did not miss its appointment. As expected, the Taiwanese manufacturer presented its new high-end smartphone this Thursday, the Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra. If the smartphone has the label “ Zenfone “, it actually has more in common with the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro, launched at CES, than with last year’s Zenfone 10.

A Zenfone bigger than the previous ones

Already, unlike the Zenfone 10, the Zenfone 11 Ultra is a large smartphone, with a 6.78 inch diagonal screen, compared to 5.92 inches for its predecessor. While the phones in the Zenfone range were previously distinguished by their small size, it seems that Asus has this time changed its tune by offering a smartphone that meets the standards of what is done in the high-end segment in 2024. The Oled screen is also announced as being able to reach a brightness of 2500 cd/m² in HDR and 1600 cd/m² in classic high brightness mode. The screen also benefits from a variable refresh rate thanks to LTPO technology which can reach 144 Hz in games. However, it is satisfied with a Full HD+ definition.

In terms of performance, the device uses the same recipe as the ROG Phone 8 with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with 12 or 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256 or 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. Concretely, the smartphone therefore embeds one of the most powerful processors currently offered on Android.

A telephoto lens with additional x3 zoom

For photography, you will need three cameras at the back, an evolution compared to the two sensors integrated into the Zenfone 10. The Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra is therefore equipped with a wide-angle module (50 Mpx, 1/ 1.56″, f/1.9), an ultra-wide-angle module (13 Mpx, f/2.2) and, a small novelty, a telephoto lens with x3 optical zoom (32 Mpx, f/2 ,4). For selfies, the smartphone has, on the front, a 32 Mpx sensor equipped with an RGBW matrix with a white sub-pixel supposed to allow better shots in low light situations.

A larger format also means a larger battery and the Zenfone 11 Ultra is here equipped with a 5500 mAh battery. The smartphone is also compatible with fast charging up to 65W Power Delivery 3.0 and PPS, but Asus unfortunately does not provide a charger in the box. You will therefore need to check that the charger you are using complies with these standards. Qi wireless charging by induction is also included, with a power of 15 W, but neither reverse wireless charging nor the Qi 2.0 standard.

Finally, note that the Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra has a headphone jack, a glass back, IP68 certification and numerous features based on artificial intelligence (wallpapers, semantic search in menus, translation for calls, etc.). The smartphone also benefits from Android 14 with the ZenUI interface. Asus specifies, however, that the phone will benefit from at least two years of major Android updates and four years of security patches. As such, the Taiwanese manufacturer is still seriously behind the seven years of updates promised by Samsung or Google.

Zenfone 11 Ultra price and availability

The Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra is already available for pre-order with first deliveries expected on April 14. It is priced at 999.99 euros in the 12/256 GB version and at 1099.99 euros in the 16/516 GB configuration. The smartphone is available in black, blue, gray or sand.
