The weight of remorse

“It remains one of the most beautiful human adventures I have experienced”, confides Dove Attia to our colleagues. However, if it were to be done again, the man would not be ready to play the role of juror again. “Me ? No. But the show could come back, the concept is exceptional. Only, the jurors would say things differently. It was another time, you could no longer say to someone: ‘Who told you that you sang well? – My friends. – Well change friends!’ We were spontaneous, but we could be embarrassed. Me, I had remorse sometimes…”, he remembers.

And it is also vis-à-vis one of the famous candidates of the show and recognized artist that the former juror reveals to have regretted his behavior. This is Amel Bent, discovered during season 2 of the New star, in 2004. That year, the candidate rose to third place in the rankings and subsequently led a singing career that many artists would dream of. However, the former juror admits not having believed in her and having behaved badly during her hearing. “With Amel Bent, yes. When she sang, I screwed up, my friends on the jury had just turned down a candidate I really liked, I was pissed off, I told her she had a karaoke voice”, he lamented. Fortunately, the producer made up for it during the next audition where he could only recognize the talent of the young woman to whom he moreover apologized. Like what, everyone can be wrong.
