IKEA has announced the marketing in April of a new speaker in its VAPPEBY range. Waterproof, inexpensive and easily transportable, the device also offers an impressive autonomy.

The fundamental objective of this new product was to offer quality sound in a versatile product that could be used anywhere. », explains Stjepan Begic, the designer of the product.

A loudspeaker designed to be transported

Covered in silicone, the enclosure is equipped with a small cord allowing it to be hung in the shower, for example, but also to be transported easily. The device will be available in three colors, red, yellow and black, and marketed for the modest sum of 13 euros. IKEA also recommends buying two models in order to couple them and obtain better sound quality.

The Swedish giant promises an autonomy of 80 hours at a volume of 50% and ensures that the speaker complies with the IP67 standard, the indication of resistance to water and dust for electronic devices. It can withstand immersion in water for 30 minutes and is compatible with all devices supporting Bluetooth.

The speaker has been designed with simplicity and clarity of function in mind, making it a very user-friendly solution. We hope that customers will adopt it and that it will add value to their lives by allowing them to enjoy sound experiences wherever they are. says Stjepan Begic.

Not the Swedish giant’s first speaker

IKEA announces that its speaker will be available on “ all markets from the month of April. If this product is promising and offers notable features for a lower price, it is likely that the sound quality is not one of its strong points. Very obviously, this is not the primary objective of IKEA, which above all wishes to offer an inexpensive and energy-efficient alternative to connected speakers.

IKEA has launched its VAPPEBY range with an outdoor LED lamp that doubles as a Spotify-compatible Bluetooth speaker. The Swedish giant also offers the Symfonisk range in collaboration with Sonos.
