As promised, WhatsApp increases the capacity of its groups.

Currently, a WhatsApp group can accommodate a total of 256 participants.

WhatsApp climbs to 512 participants

While some WhatsApp users may just discover a new function via the update being rolled out, the application already offers a new version, allowing the number of participants in a group to be doubled. Thus, from a limit set today at 256 participants, we go to a total of 512 members within a single discussion.

An update that concerns the majority of markets in the world, apart from Brazil. On the side of WhatsApp, we specify: “ Based on our long-term strategy for Brazil, this feature will only be implemented after it has been tested in other markets “. Recall that elections will be held in October in the country, and that local justice wants to prevent the dissemination of fake news and false information through groups, as happens in other applications such as Telegram.

In parallel with this increase in participants in group discussions, WhatsApp will soon explode the maximum size of files transferable via its application. Today fixed at 100 MB per file, the latter will soon be capped at 2 GB. As always, these updates are deployed gradually, and may take days / weeks to arrive on our smartphones.

It’s simple, WhatsApp is a fantastic instant messaging application that also offers basic voice and video calls. The less demanding will find their account, the others much less with the impoverished desktop version and the limitation of group calls to eight participants.
