This promising electric motorcycle could shake up the market with its semi-solid battery

It is at the Lyon show in early March that the electric motorcycle from China, the Naxeon I AM, will be exhibited in France for the first time. The opportunity to discover this futuristic, hyper-connected two-wheeler with promising autonomy.

The electric motorcycle market is currently so undersupplied, at least here, that we are always keen to discover new players. Even more so when we are promised that they will indeed arrive on our roads! This is the case of this Naxeon I AM which will be exhibited in a few weeks for the very first time in France. It is the two-wheel distributor MOOO NV which will present it on its stand at the Salon du 2 Roues de Lyon 2024, which will be held from March 7 to 10, at the EuroExpo Park in the capital of Gaul.

The Naxeon I AM made its first appearance in November 2023, at the EICMA show in Milan. Coming from China, this motorcycle, which is a 125 equivalent, immediately catches the eye with its hyper futuristic physique, almost entirely faired. Which almost gives it a mini-motorcycle look. So yes it is compact, but with its saddle height of 800 mm, it is not particularly small. On the other hand, it does indeed hide cutting-edge technologies.

A semi-solid battery

Without beating around the bush, we can actually talk about the Naxeon I AM battery which has “semi-solid” technology. This allows it to offer an energy density which would be up 30% compared to a conventional battery. This allows it to be both more compact and lighter (-30%), but also to better resist discharge, and to better withstand a wider range of temperatures.

Two versions of the battery exist, 4.3 and 6.5 kWh, for respective ranges of up to 120 and 180 km at 60 km/h. Admit that she hides her game well. As for recharging, we’re talking about 1h30 to go from 20 to 80% on a fast terminal.

As for the motor, positioned in the rear hub, it offers a power of 7.5 kW, and up to 10.5 kW peak. The maximum torque is 273 Nm. Enough in any case to go from 0 to 50 km/h in 2.8 seconds, reach 80 km/h in 6.5 seconds and reach 115 km/h.

State-of-the-art equipment

Finally, we cannot talk about this Naxeon I AM without mentioning its on-board technologies. You can see it in the photos, but the lighting is entirely LED, including on the sides of the machine with a thin strip which outlines the contours of the frame. Front and rear radars and cameras provide functions such as blind spot detection, display on the TFT screen on the rear handlebars of the motorcycle, anti-collision alert, etc. ABS and traction control are also there.

It now remains to be seen at what price the importer who is exhibiting the electric motorcycle at the Lyon 2024 show will offer it… Finally, note that another brand, Neco, will also be present, notably with the e-pop electric scooter with a 60 km range. autonomy and which will be sold for 1999 euros.
