This Razer cushion brings surround sound to your gaming chair, literally


At CES 2023 in Las Vegas, Razer presented a new concept for gaming setup: a gaming chair cushion with speakers that can produce surround sound.

At CES 2023, Razer is showcasing what it calls “world’s first head cushion with near-field and haptic surround sound“, his concept “Project Carol“. Enough to complete a gaming chair by adding a few watts thanks to the brand’s R&D division.

The objective with this concept is to bring immersion and realism with an important gaming setup element: the seat. The Project Carol is a head cushion that offers 7.1 near-field surround sound that is intended to be direct. This concept is equipped with the proprietary HyperSense technology that is usually found on its gaming headsets like the Kraken V3 HyperSense. Depending on the brand, it allows “detect the frequencies of game sound, to transform it into haptic effects» via «vibrotactile signals», and this, in real time.

Project Carol is natively usable on PC and Razer says it has it “designed to fit all gaming chairs», like its Enki or Iskur seats thanks to the elastic and adjustable straps. This head pad connects wirelessly (2.4 GHz) and has a battery life of eight hours.
