A new secret has been discovered in Cyberpunk 2077, and this time, even the developers are surprised. But what could have slipped under the noses of players for so many years?
It sometimes happens in video games that studios hide surprises in their creations. We call them “Easter Eggs” and sometimes, they take several years to be discovered. In the case of Cyberpunk 2077, since its release in 2020, there have been a few that have been found. All ? Well, we just found out that wasn’t the case. As it turns out, it was before our eyes from the start, but it completely escaped our notice. Even CD Projekt Red wondered if we were going to end up stumbling upon it.
A new secret discovered in Cyberpunk 2077
It was the user crushovitz_b who revealed a well-hidden Easter Egg. On X (formerly Twitter), he showed us his find, and indeed, it’s crazy that we missed it all this time. First, you must be on the main menu screen. Next, you need to move your mouse to the current version number of Cyberpunk 2077, and click on it. The numbers will then change and become “2.0.77”. This is obviously a reference to the title of the game, and that’s the secret. It only took more than three years.
The Polish studio did not fail to salute the player for his achievement. It’s not a joke, since it was Pawel Sasko himself who was responsible for congratulating him. As a reminder, we are still talking about the quest director and associate director on Cyberpunk 2077 and its DLC. This is what he said: “Good find, I was starting to doubt that you would ever be able to find this! It was a little too well hidden”. Indeed, it wasn’t easy to find, and even if it was, we don’t necessarily pay attention to it.
Well, it’s not THE discovery of the century either. However, it’s always fun to manage to come across an Easter Egg in a game. On this subject, that raises another question. Are there others that have escaped us? In the Phantom Liberty expansion, for example? It’s entirely possible, and as you can imagine, CD Projekt Red will keep the secret tight.
