Netflix has just narrowly saved a very popular new series from an absolutely cult license. It’s coming soon and should delight science fiction fans, but not only that.
The most famous platform is renowned for its exclusive programs, its successes, and even its phenomena which have now marked popular culture, such as Squid Game, for example, which will return soon, moreover, and “for real”. But Netflix also has a very bad reputation, that of quickly ending series when they don’t even seem to have had time to take off. Worse still, some programs disappear even though they seem to work quite well at first glance, which is difficult to understand. However, the SVOD giant is also a savior, and we tend to forget it.
A new series of accuracy
Yes, Netflix may be abandoning some projects, but it is saving others at the last minute. Lately, for example, it’s Warrior Nun who almost disappeared before being narrowly saved. Well, here, it was mainly fan pressure that tipped the scales, but whatever the case, Netflix still decided to save the furniture. We will also remember the last seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Ninesaved from an untimely death by Netflix, or even from Lucifer, even if the latter would have done well to disappear as planned (it’s mean, and it’s a personal opinion, I know, sorry). Today, Netflix is making one more rescue with Star Trek Prodigyan animated series from one of the most famous science fiction franchises.
Star Trek Prodigy is coming to Netflix!
Star Trek Prodigy is an animated series originally broadcast on Paramount+. The subsidiary has in fact held the exclusive rights to the license for some time, which also led to the cessation of the program on Netflix for a while.
Except that, Paramount has decided to clean up a bit and has announced that it will eliminate several original creations to reduce costs. It is therefore within the framework of this restructuring that Netflix came to take control of Star Trek Prodigy. The series will therefore begin its broadcast on its new platform in 2024 with its second season, currently in production. In this very colorful series, we follow a group of aliens who get their hands on a Starfleet ship and travel across the universe.
