A few months after officially revealing its ID.7, Volkswagen is now working to offer it a hormone-fed version. The latter is announced by the ID.X Performance concept, which has just been unveiled by the German brand. It should foreshadow the future Volkswagen ID.7 GTX, an ultra-high-performance sedan to hunt in the territory of the Tesla Model 3 Performance.
Volkswagen is not idle at the moment. And for good reason, the German brand is getting a lot of attention, even though it is keen to further expand its electric range, in order to be ready for the 2035 deadline imposed by the European Union.
A supercharged concept
The Wolfsburg-based firm took advantage of the Munich show, which the Survoltés editorial team was able to cover, to lift the veil on its future California, and on an incredible concept announcing the ID.2 GTI. We were also lucky enough to be able to discover it up close. But the manufacturer does not want to stop there, quite the contrary.
And while the IAA has just ended this Sunday after five days of opening to the public, Volkswagen is rewarding us with a brand new unexpected creation. And for good reason, not a single teaser has been published until now, while only a press release announces this new model, which currently takes the form of a concept car. The latter is called ID.X Performanceand is not really innocent, quite the contrary.
In fact, this should simply announce the arrival a little later ofa hormone-fed version of the ID.7, made official a few months earlier and whose French prices have been announced. And the least we can say is that this concept clearly asserts its ambitions. This involves a very assertive body kit, with a front shield, side skirts and an imposing rear diffuser. Without of course mentioning the huge spoiler, while the camber of the wheels increased by 80 millimeters.
The ground clearance has been reduced by 60 millimeters for greater stability and a sportier look. We also note the arrival of new 20-inch golden rims, shod with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires in size 265, as well as red brake calipers. Finally, we also notice that theThe rear lights have been tintedwhile red accents complete the look of the car.
Over 550 horsepower
On board, the presentation remains quite conventional since we find the large touch screen of the ID.7 measuring 17 inches, associated with a small digital handset. No big surprise then, although the driving position is adorned with a few touches of red in order to become a little sportier. The manufacturer also specifies that the driver and his passenger take place in carbon bucket seats.
But what interests us is above all what is hidden under the hood of this concept, which reveals its technical sheet. This is very promising, sinceit announces no less than 558 horsepower, distributed between the two axles thanks to an electric motor on each of them. The manufacturer has also added a torque management system which notably allows the rear differential to be locked for greater agility.
For the moment, the manufacturer does not yet communicate on the 0 to 100 km / h, which should be achieved in less than four seconds. The maximum speed has not yet been announced either for now. This rival of the Tesla Model 3 Performance, currently absent from the configurator since its restyling can also be charged at a maximum power of 200 kW. The time required to fill the battery as well as the capacity of the latter has not yet been revealed.
For the record, the standard ID.7 is equipped witha pack of up to 86 kWh and displays a maximum autonomy of 700 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. If the concept car will not be marketed as is, it should therefore strongly inspire the design of the sports sedan, which could happen in the coming months.
