Switching to an electric bike does not necessarily mean going through the “throw your old mechanical bike in the trash” box. The solution of electrifying a bicycle still remains an operation little known to the general public, who often does not know how to go about it. To simplify this step and take this step, Electribe adapts to the needs and goes directly to the customer.
Transform a bike into an electric bike, nomadic style
Electribe is the creation of a young entrepreneur, Arthur Brossard, a cyclist from the start. Before this adventure, he worked in a bicycle workshop, where he discovered electrification. However, he found contact with the customer complicated in this multitasking world.
This Ile-de-France resident thus passed the milestone at the start of 2023, by launching his own nomadic activity. Thus, Arthur can focus particularly on the electrification of a bicycle. He works alone, or in the company of people with disabilities whom he trains at ESAT Berthier. But how does it work ?
First, the customer fills out a form via the official website, then agrees to a telephone appointment and sends a photo of their bike. Arthur quickly knows whether or not he can transform it into an electric bike. If this is the case, he sets up an appointment with the client.
The fully equipped Electribe electric cargo bike therefore leaves to meet the customer, directly at home. For approximately three hours, electrification takes place. Motor, battery(ies), controller, display, sensor and wiring are therefore gradually fitted to the bike.
Customized and subsidized bicycle electrification
Electribe can transform any type of cycle, from urban to mountain biking to cargo. The preferred base is a Bafang, which he considers to be the most reliable and with better value for money, he explains to us at the Vélo In Paris 2024 festival. But as the customer is king, he can choose a other electrification kit: Arthur is used to tailor-made products.

Moreover, he can modify, adjust or repair some components in order to optimize the bike. A bicycle electrification costs on average 1,200 euros, the wide range being 900 to 1,600 euros. Electribe also offers a one-year warranty on the complete installation.
A substantial sum yes, but compatible with purchasing aid of several hundred euros. The downside is that Electribe only works in Paris and Île-de-France. If electrification interests you elsewhere, several services such as Syklo, Habelo, or À Fond Gaston offer it in workshops throughout France.
