The American company DoNotPay is launching a chatbot that will replace you with customer services and act as a negotiator.

The company’s chatbot, which is referred to as ” world’s first robot lawyer was built from OpenAI’s GPT-3 language model. Yes, the tool that also made it possible to develop ChatGPT, the artificial intelligence that all the media have echoed since the beginning of December!

A chatbot that negotiates (almost) like a human

And to show the skills of its chatbot, the company chaired by Joshua Browder tested artificial intelligence with the customer service of Comcast, the American cable operator, also an internet service provider.

In the discussion started by the IA with the employee of the group, the chatbox took charge of the file of one of the engineers of DoNotPay. He began by complaining about several internet shutdowns that would have been professionally harmful to him, then went on to mention other cases where Comcast was similarly at fault, and ended up invoking a specific piece of legislation.

As a result, after a quick review of the file by the agent, a reduction of 10 dollars on the internet subscription of 75 dollars per month was successfully obtained.

Some adjustments are still necessary before marketing

If the overall result is impressive, this test also showed that the chatbot still needed a little work. Despite the human nature of the discussion, a bug could be observed when the customer’s email address was requested, to which the AI responded ” [insert email address] (“insert email address”).

Similarly, some efforts must still be made to improve the naturalness of the machine, which continues to thank its interlocutor on each line. And if in this experiment, the chatbox exaggerated the damage he would have suffered, Joshua Browder explains that they do not ” not allow exaggeration of facts in the final version “.

DoNotPay is also currently working on the creation of a function allowing the chatbox to request additional information from its user during the negotiation, with whom he can exchange by text message. The conversational AI will be open for testing in two weeks and will be intended, according to the company’s president, to work with all companies in the United States.
