this simple new feature makes the service more pleasant to use on the Web

The web version of YouTube Music is enriched with a simple, but very useful function. We almost wonder why it hasn’t existed for longer.

Among the many audio streaming services existing, you may have set your sights on YouTube Music. Because you are a regular Youtube and prefer a service with a familiar interface, or because you want to benefit from certain features such as the discovery of new songs thanks to artificial intelligence. In any case, you can easily find what you’re looking for, especially since Google regularly adds interesting new features.

There are also some that are so obvious that we wonder why they didn’t exist before. One of the most glaring examples is the ability to download songs to your PC to listen to them without an Internet connection, arriving only in April 2024. The function in question here is of this type. Once is not customary, it concerns the Web version of YouTube Music.

YouTube Music enriches its web version with a very practical functionality

Currently, It’s best to avoid closing the YouTube Music tab while a song is playing. Doing so displays a warning making you aware that you are going to cut playback and, if you continue, the platform “forgets” what you were listening to. You have to start from 0 when the service reopens. This is now ancient history since the latter finally behaves like its mobile version.

YouTube Music on the web now remembers the song that was playing at the time of closing and suggests you restart it from the beginning. All the titles present in the tab To be continued also remains in memory, a behavior valid for both albums and playlists.

This is a very welcome little addition which, however, presents a problem with the podcasts : the episode is not forgotten, but it is also returned to its starting point. It makes sense on music, much less on an audio broadcast that we want to pick up precisely where we left off. Let’s hope that this is indeed a bug whose correction will not take too long.
