What is this Sony soundbar?
Sony’s soundbar isn’t as good as high-end soundbars, but it does provide the immersion that most TVs lack. Its size of 950 × 64 × 128 mm and its weight of 4.6 kg make it an easy speaker to place in front of your TV. Check all the same the dimensions of the latter, so that the top of the HT-A3000 does not crop part of the image. The design is excellent and the design blends very well with any TV. Note that the touch controls on the surface are not backlit, so as not to obstruct screen visibility.
The audio reproduction is precise thanks to its speakers located on the front panel. Voice timbres are clear and the built-in subwoofer does a good job. Its speakers deliver a good power of 250 W and offer an ideal dynamism for the cinema, partly thanks to good bass. 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology takes care of optimizing surround sound and gives the feeling of multiple speakers in the room. These phantom speakers offer more immersion, as well as a slightly more pronounced spatialization. The desired effect does not reach the performance of a Home Cinema installation, but the rendering remains convincing, for the price of a mid-range bar.
Is Sony’s soundbar a bargain?
It’s a great deal if you want to boost your TV audio without putting too much of a price tag on it. It is possible to connect the HT-A3000 via a jack cable, an optical cable or via Bluetooth. Apart from the sound of your TV, you can also listen to your music via Bluetooth, via Spotify Connect or Deezer via your smartphone. Apple AirPlay 2 and Chromecast built-in are also included. Sony’s soundbar is also compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, and lets you control your music playback by voice. Rest assured, a good old remote control is of course present.
The remote control also allows you to adjust your bar quickly, but remains limited. A connected configuration that goes through the interface of your TV is also possible, and gives you more control over the audio settings. Finally, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X technologies guarantee maximum immersion. Unfortunately, the purchase of additional boxes and speakers is almost obligatory to take advantage of it. Be aware, however, that if your budget is limited, the HT-A3000 is sufficient on its own.
