This Starck capsule coffee maker wants to revolutionize the way of making coffee

Innovations are not so frequent in the small world of coffee makers, and even less so in that of capsule coffee makers, which are generally very simple. With Delta Q, however, it is the second that we are highlighting this year, the first going to CoffeeB and its Globe, and especially to the small balls of coffee in the vegetable envelope that go with it.

The Rise with Starck coffee maker stands out for its way of making the coffee flow, but works with relatively classic capsules, except that they are signed Delta Q and adopt a specific format. These are the same capsules that fit into the other coffee makers from this Portuguese manufacturer.

Coffee flowing from bottom to top

Rather than pouring the coffee into the cup, Delta Q has developed a system that forces it up from the bottom of the cup and dubbed it the Reverse Injected System Experience. A somewhat pompous name which above all allows him to abbreviate it to “rise”which can be translated from English by the verbs “ascend” Where “rise”. Not entirely new, this system was first presented in 2018, long before it gave its name to a machine.

We imagine that Delta Q preferred to take the time to mature its project in order to give this audacious coffee maker the best possible chance, which still has a major drawback: the Rise with Starck obviously does not work with just any cup. , since an opening is necessary in the bottom. The choice to surround itself with the French designer Starck to give it shape also testifies to the attention paid by the manufacturer to the details. If it is therefore certainly not the most practical coffee maker, and its small 33 cl water tank should not help matters, it must be recognized that watching the cup of coffee fill from the bottom at its summit is quite a striking sight.

Bonus taste assets?

Beyond the “wow” effect, the rise system would allow, according to Delta Q, to intensify the taste and the natural aromas of the coffee while maintaining it at a constant temperature and creating a creamy cream. No technical data is however provided, such as the pressure reached during the extraction, but we can add that the Rise machine leaves the choice between three lengths of coffee that we imagine customizable, and offers various indicator lights to facilitate its maintenance.

Currently displayed at €279, the Delta Q Rise with Starck is currently available for pre-order in Portugal with two espresso cups, two cups for longer preparations and four saucers. No availability date is mentioned and we do not know if it will be offered in France, even if it seems quite likely to us given the fact that Delta Q already offers its other machines in France.
