Broadcast platforms can work real miracles. Twitch and YouTube have allowed content creators to participate in charitable campaigns to help various causes. However, this American YouTuber seems indifferent to the idea of not paying the donations accumulated over the years. And the players do not hesitate to remind him…

A success that brings back bad memories

Jirard Khalil aka The Completionist on YouTube is an American content creator specializing in 100% video game completion and reviews. Since the creation of his channel, he has produced around 340 reviews. A member of the Open Hand foundation, he supports the fight against dementia by participating in various charitable events, including IndieLand, an annual show organized by the association where several independent games are presented.

However, the YouTuber is today in turmoil and has been accused of embezzlement. Disappointed, players did not hesitate to remind him of his commitments. This is what this Reddit user did by exposing the fact that The Completionist had obtained an achievement in Diablo 2: Resurrected (the one consisting of obtaining more than a million gold), accompanied by a message “The Completionist is safe anywhere”.

If this user makes fun of The Completionist in this way, it is because he is referring to the money accumulated throughout his charity campaign. He reportedly obtained more than $600,000 that would never have been donated to organizations fighting dementia. Other users did not forget to remind him that he had joined this association because his late mother suffered from a neurological disease.

A family story

A dramatic twist recently occurred when we learned that The Open Hand Foundation was created by Charles Khalil, the YouTuber’s father, in memory of his late wife. This affair would therefore concern the entire family of the content creator. It was exposed in November 2023 when two YouTubers: Karl Jobst and Mutahar Anas aka SomeOrdinaryGamers published several videos, proving that the association had never made a charitable contribution since its creation.

Since then, it’s been a descent into hell for TheCompletionist. He also published a video in December 2023, in which he admitted that no funds had been donated. Several of his collaborators parted ways with him and Jirard Khalil announced that he would now move to independent financing while continuing his activity as a YouTuber.
