Number 1 on Netflix, “The Pleasure of Being Betrayed” is the platform’s hot new sensation. Enough to leave the door open to a sequel?
It’s the hot new sensation on Netflix, The Pleasure of Getting Betrayed is the number 1 film on the platform right now. This new sensual content, not recommended for those under 16, falls into the very popular category of so-called “soft porn” films and series such as Sex/Life, Elite or 365 Days.
Directed by Diego Freitas, to whom we already owe Beyond the Universe on Netflix, The Pleasure of Being Betrayed mixes romance, thriller and drama, with a good dose of explicit sex scenes.
Babi (Giovanna Lancelotti) is the heroine of The Pleasure of Being Betrayed. This young woman thinks she has a perfect life with an important job, loyal friends – Thiago (Bruno Montaleone) and Paty (Camilla de Lucas) – and a charming fiancé, Caio (Micael Borges).
But she discovers during her bachelorette party that Caio has been cheating on her for several years. After collapsing, Babi takes control of her life by changing her look, kicking Caio out of her personal and professional life and getting back on the bike.
Babi will also meet judge Marco (Leandro Lima), for whom she feels an inexplicable attraction. They begin a very warm relationship, but Marco hides as many secrets as those close to him…
A sequel to The Pleasure of Being Betrayed?
Even if The Pleasure of Being Betrayed is full of explicit sex scenes and nudity, like the trilogy 365 daysthe Brazilian film is much less problematic than the Polish franchise, which has been subject to widespread criticism for “its glamorization of kidnapping and rape.”

The Pleasure of Being Betrayed is a thriller that mixes betrayals, low blows, sexuality and murder. The addition of graphic sensual scenes helps raise the temperature in this torrid film which has won over fans of soft porn and other erotic thrillers as well as Netflix subscribers.
The film slipped straight to first place in the platform’s top viewing charts. So will this success make the American giant want to give it a sequel? If for the moment, no information has been revealed on this subject, the possibility is great.
Indeed, The Pleasure of Being Betrayed is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Sue Hecker. And this Brazilian author specializes in erotic books. You should know that The Pleasure of Being Betrayed is part of a special collection entitled “Mosaico” and that two prequel novels – Preludio do Cinismo (Prelude to Cynicism) and Epilogo (Epilogue) – are attached to it.

Netflix can therefore adapt these two prequel novels into films if the platform wants to expand the universe of Au Pleasure de Se Travése on the platform. The prequel Preludio do Cinismo (Prelude to Cynicism) centers on the beginnings of Babi and Caio’s once passionate relationship and the prequel Epilogo (Epilogue) centers on Caio and an intense encounter.
But the American giant may also want to adapt other sulphurous novels from the Mosaico series by Sue Hecker, which center on other characters. We will have to wait to see if the success of Au Plaisir de Se Través is immense enough for Netflix to consider expanding the universe on the platform or if its popularity is ephemeral.
