Electricity is expensive and its price increases regularly. If you have an electric car, it is useful to study all the ways to save money, like this little-known EDF subscription.
For buy an electric vehicle at a reasonable price, there are several ways to do it. You can take advantage of a leasing offer, make sure you benefit from the ecological bonus or even buy second-hand. After that, it should be kept in mind that charging the vehicle is not free. And with the regular increases in the price of electricity like that of August 1, 2023, things are not going to get any better.
The electricity that charges your car is the same electricity that powers your home. Its price too. The idea is therefore to find a subscription that allows you to save money over the year whole. At this level, it is interesting to look at a fairly unknown variant of the classic EDF subscription: the Tempo offer. It works with the off-peak and peak hours systemadding a notion of blue, white and red days. The kWh rate changes according to the color of the day.
The EDF Tempo subscription can save you hundreds of euros a year
There are a total of 300 blue days, 43 white days and 22 red days. The blue day is cheaper than the white day, itself cheaper than the red. Note thatEDF only communicates the color of the day 24 hours in advance. However, we know that the red days are distributed between December and January/February. For example, the kWh in peak hours on a blue day is around €0.14 on August 1compared to €0.25 for the Peak Hours – Standard Off-Peak Hours offer.

The counterpart is that red days have a very high price during peak hours: €0.73 per kWh. However, taking the example of recharging the Renaut Mégane E-Tech EV60 every night from a simple socket, we achieve savings of around €300 over the year, for approximately 20,000 km driven. Of course, this estimate is subject to variations depending on the frequency of your trips and your vehicle model, but it is still quite significant. If you know the annual consumption of your electric car, it’s worth doing the calculation with the rates of the Tempo offer.
