If you tend to spend restless nights, this revolutionary technique can reduce the risk of having nightmares.

To avoid having restless nights, some have the feeling of having tried everything : sessions with the psychologist, medication, essential oils, hypnosis… Nothing helps, the nightmares are still as recurrent. During a column broadcast on Europe 1 in November 2022, innovation expert Anicet Mbida took an interest in a revolutionary technique aimed at improving the quality of sleep of those who regularly have nightmares. Results ? Participants reported that their frequency of nightmares was divided by five after two weeks and that they only did one every three weeks, compared to one every two days before conducting the experiment. So, what is this miracle trick who promises to sweeten the nights of those who simply dream of sleeping in peace?

Can positive music ease restless nights?

Well, a team from the Geneva Sleep Lab just found a way to reduce the number of nightmares in those affected. A technique rather accessible to all since it simply consists of playing, at key moments of sleep, music that is associated with something positive. Experts installed a headband containing sensors around the participants’ heads. When they sleep, positive music will play as a phase of disturbed sleep is about to begin. As for the songs that play, they can be sounds specially tuned to brain frequencies and heart rates, or personalized melodies associated with happy moments of the patient. For now, the technique has only been tested on about forty peoplewhich is therefore still insufficient to launch this very promising concept on the market.
