this unexpected change in your personal space

The CAF suffered an attack from “hackers” in February, with “several thousand accounts” visited. If the beneficiaries concerned have been notified individually, all personal spaces on CAF.fr must now be secured. Since Friday March 8, changing your password is even mandatory to log in.

“Why is CAF forcing me to change my password? » You probably asked yourself this question if you tried to log in to “My Account” in late February or early March. Before March 8, the following screen was displayed to access your account. Since Friday March 8, the message has changed with a more imperative instruction: it is now mandatory to change your password!

“A data breach has been proven, several thousand recipient accounts were visited illegitimately”

For what ? The National Family Allowance Fund (Cnaf), which oversees the CAF in the French departments, explained this in a press release released on Friday February 23: “A data breach has been proven, several thousand benefit accounts were visited in a manner illegitimate. » For beneficiaries who were victims of these hackers, the password was “reset in order to block any access to their account by an unauthorized person”, and they were notified in mid-February.

Now, CAFs aim to strengthen the security of all personal spaces. A new information and prevention message was broadcast on Thursday February 29 to all beneficiaries. Watchword: “Faced with the increase in data breaches on the internet, we are taking measures to protect your sensitive information. Changing your password is mandatory from March 8 for all beneficiaries who have not done so since February 15. Take the opportunity to check your contact information and your RIB. »
