this very important detail to check on the pipette (some have a problematic defect)

The National Medicines Safety Agency has alerted parents to an important detail to check on their box of Doliprane for children. A defect that could cause a problem.

Often, parents do not have to struggle to give Doliprane to their children. Usually reluctant to swallow a medicine with a strong and cloying taste, they do not say “no” to the sugary version of paracetamol delivered via a pipette. The chemical compound is widely used since it helps fight fever, pain (like back pain from which some suffer chronically) or even migraine. But be careful this warning from the ANSM about Doliprane for children.

The National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products has in fact published an ad on his site. While some fear the end of Doliprane, others point out its significant risks for liver health. But what is the danger mentioned here by the organization? This is’a detail of Doliprane for children constituting a problematic defect.

Doliprane children: non-compliant boxes

If your little one is sick and you are about to give them Doliprane children, remember to carry out a very detailed check. The ANSM writes: “We have been informed by the Opella Healthcare France laboratory ofan absence of graduation on only around thirty pipettes which are used to take the right dose of Doliprane 2.4%, oral suspension to give to infants and children”.

Few parents will therefore be affected. These are the following lots : 3KLR12D1, 3KLR13D2, 3KLQ70DU, 3KLQ69DT, 3KLR14D3, 3KLQ71DV, 3KLQ72DW. They have a total of more than 1.3 million boxes but only thirty contain defective pipettes. And don’t panic, the fault only concerns the pipette : “The integrity and quality of the syrup contained in the bottle are intact”, specifies the ANSM.

What to do if you are affected

What should you do if you have one of these non-graduated pipettes in a box of Doliprane 2.4% oral suspension? You can simply take your product to a pharmacy, who will exchange it for you. For pharmacists, it is specified that it is necessary “contact the Opella laboratory on 0 801 907 577, to return the product and obtain a credit note”.

Do not use it, at the risk of making a dosage error, and do not use the pipette of another medicine either. However, the drug agency wants to be reassuring: “No pharmacovigilance cases related to this printing defect have been reported to date. The pipette manufacturer claims to have taken measures to ensure that new batches do not contain this defect”. A problem which should therefore not arise for parents. As a reminder, Doliprane is contraindicated if you suffer from serious liver disease or if you have inflammation or bleeding from the rectum.
