This western with a 5-star cast is already the most anticipated film of 2025!

The cast of “Eddington”, the new feature film by Ari Aster has just been revealed! Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone will opposite Pedro Pascal and Austin Butler. Tantalizing!

After the acclaimed Hereditary, Midsommar and Beau is Afraid, American filmmaker Ari Aster, new star of independent horror cinema, returns with Eddington, a horror western that he wrote and directed.

Once again produced by A24, the film will follow a couple who travel through New Mexico to Los Angeles during the pandemic. They run out of gas just outside the small town of Eddington and decide to enter the town for help. They are initially greeted warmly, but as night falls, the picturesque setting quickly turns into a nightmare.

Last June, Ari Aster explained to the Italian site La Repubblica that his next film would be a mix between “western and film noir”. Like the director’s previous films, Eddington should therefore give you nightmares.

Multi-awarded actors

A24 has just announced the casting of the feature film. We therefore learn that Joaquin Phoenix, who has already collaborated with the filmmaker on Beau is afraid for which he was nominated for the Golden Globes for Best Actor, Emma Stone, just won an Oscar for Poor Creatures, Pedro Pascal, Austin Butler, currently starring in Dune 2, Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Michael Ward and Clifton Collins Jr will star in the feature film.

This will be the second collaboration between Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone after Woody Allen’s The Irrational Man in 2015.

Director of photography Darius Khondji, working on Seven, The Immigrant and Magic in the Moonlight, also joins the project. This will be his first collaboration with Ari Aster.

According to Deadline, production of the feature film should begin this week for a release planned for 2025 and a possible appearance in festivals like the filmmaker’s previous films.
