On the occasion of CES 2023, the company Displace presented a 4K TV wireless with very interesting properties… but expensive.

Soberly called Displace TV with a 55″ 4K OLED panel, it has the certain advantage of being able to be mounted on almost any surface with amazing ease thanks to a suction system.

A TV that aspires to change the game

Hanging a TV on a wall, thanks to dedicated hardware requiring a certain amount of elbow grease, is an act that could soon be a thing of the past. It is in any case the will of Displace with a television that the brand proudly presented at CES 2023.

Thanks to a fastening system resembling a suction cup, the Displace TV can be easily hung on walls or windows. According to a demonstration by the CEO during CES, you should place your hands behind two notches to pick it up. To hang it up, simply press it against a surface and let the vacuum system do the rest in seconds. All for a relatively light weight of 9 kg.

To work wirelessly, the Displace TV has four batteries. While Displace did not share specific details on the subject, the company indicated that its device should offer a battery life of one month with six hours of use per day. Wireless charging is not currently in the news, but could be in future iterations.

A freedom that has a certain cost

Another interesting point of the Displace TV: the absence of a remote control. To control it, it goes through a 4K camera located on top of the screen. In addition to use in videoconferencing, it embeds software supporting control by gestures.

With different hand gestures, it will thus be possible to switch to the next channel, pause or apply a zoom/unzoom of the image. For the more fortunate who can afford several Displace TVs, it will also be possible to switch a display from one screen to another. Or easily mount multiple screens together to magnify the image even further. Displace has also indicated that it wants to create other models without borders, to make this type of installation more efficient.

But the luxury of being able to hang this wireless 4K TV just about anywhere comes at a price. More exactly 3,000 dollars, without of course counting the VAT. What’s more, only one hundred models are currently available. The Displace TV has at least the merit of offering an approach that could in the future inspire other brands to exploit a promising concept.
