Thomas Gottschalk and Constantin Zöller went on (radio) broadcast together on SWR3 for almost two years. It’s over on Monday.

They sprayed a good mood, gave each other musical battles and discussed news and gossip: Since January 2020, Thomas Gottschalk (71) has presented the two-hour radio show “Gottschalk und Zöller” once a week together with Constantin Zöller (34). However, next Monday (November 8th) it will be over. SWR3 broadcasts the last issue from 1 p.m.

Thomas Gottschalk wants to go back to the USA more often

As the radio station announced, “SWR3 PopUp” will take over the previous slot from Gottschalk and Zöller after their final broadcast. Gottschalk then goes abroad more often, as he himself hopes – especially to the USA. However, it does not drive him into the final full-time retirement, as the 71-year-old presenter points out to SWR3: “‘The End’ is a song by the ‘Doors’, but hopefully with me it goes a little further.” He is still “to be expected. No longer weekly, but at some point I’ll be back – and then I mercilessly put on ‘Aerosmith’: ‘Back In The Saddle Again’.”

It would appear that Constantin Zöller will sorely miss his experienced moderator colleague. “How I should live in the future without Thommy and his 70s rock numbers with eight-minute guitar solos is not entirely clear to me,” he jokes. Gottschalk is “the freest person I know – I appreciate the fact that he has taken time out every Monday in the last two years and expresses how much fun our show was”.

Will “Specials with Consi” follow?

Radio listeners may not have to do without the Gottschalk / Zöller duo forever. Because at least a temporary return is quite possible, according to SWR3 program director Thomas Jung. Gottschalk would be “still available for specials with Consi”.
