Pop stars like Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez currently have no place for Thomas Gottschalk on the stages of the inauguration.

The USA began its political restart with appearances by Lady Gaga (34, "Shallow") and Jennifer Lopez (51, "On The Floor") – which Thomas Gottschalk (70) doesn't think much of. For him it was a "misrepresentation", as he said in an interview with "Bild" editor-in-chief Julian Reichelt (40). "Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez, for all their merits, have no business being on these stages at the moment," said the presenter, who himself lived in California for a long time.

For the appearance of the new US President Joe Biden (78), Gottschalk found all the warmer words: "The speech was dynamic. That wasn't an old man who was babbling about, he actually hit the right note. ( …) He didn't speak of 'America First', not of 'We Make America Great Again' but rather humbly said in front of the world 'We are good people'. " According to Gottschalk, he showed feelings and spoke with a soul, while Donald Trump had the impression that he had no soul. "He conveyed it (the speech) in a form of humanity, of credibility, which impressed me more than Lady Gaga's golden cable," concluded Gottschalk.
