Thomas Pesquet: his first words after entering the international space station: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Party aboard the capsule Crew Dragon in front of cameras around the world on April 23, 2021, Thomas Pesquet joined the International Space Station (ISS) April 24, 2021 at 1:43 p.m.. Shortly after entering this huge building floating in space, the French astronaut, who recently confided in his life as a couple unlike any other, spoke in front of the cameras of the NASA, whose images were broadcast on BFMTV. “It’s amazing to be back on the ISS, but things have changed a lot. I confess that I have never seen so many people on the ISS. And I’ve never seen so many visiting vehicles docked at the ISS, ” said Thomas Pesquet.

“It required a great deal of effort from all sides. All the support functions, all the teams on the ground made this adventure possible. (…) It’s been twenty years since we were all together, and we are delighted to see our friends again. We will have the opportunity to say goodbye before they return to Earth. On the ISS, it’s true that being eleven makes a lot of people, but it will be wonderful, ” also added the husband of Anne Mottet. If he had first started answering questions in English, Thomas Pesquet then wanted to say a few words in French.

Thomas Pesquet: “It was not an easy trip”

“Thank you to all the people who worked on this mission. A quick note for the families and friends who have traveled to Cape Canaveral (from where SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket took off on April 23, 2021, editor’s note). It was not an easy trip. It really warmed my heart to have them with me, so I wanted to give them a little special greeting. Thanks everyone, ” he concluded. For his 2nd space mission, Thomas Pesquet is accompanied by 3 other astronauts, the Americans Shane Kimbrough and Megan McArthur, as well as the Japanese Akihiko Hoshide. The astronaut will also make history by beating the record for the longest stay for a French person in space, since this mission is scheduled to last at least 6 months.
