Thomas Sotto is fed up. The journalist from France 2 then made a big decision: he announced that he was leaving the social network Twitter.
Thomas Sotto has just made a radical decision. Indeed, the presenter of Telematin announced leave the social network Twitter. The reason ? The insults and the bad state of mind of some: “Because the simple act of saying ‘hello’ can provoke a barrage of insults here. Because your kingdom has, alas, become that of easy insult and permanent and tiresome slander, we are going to take a break, you and me, Twitter. See you soon! (maybe…)”, he wrote, disappointed with the reaction of some. Yet the journalist from France 2 has never been controversial via Twitter.
Rather, he uses it to share current events or to pay tribute to some, as was the case with the death of Jean-Pierre Pernaut. “Television would not be quite the same without strong and outstanding personalities like Jean-Pierre Pernaut. JPP is one of those who invented something”, he had written. But now, like many other public figures, Thomas Sotto finds himself the target of some Internet users. And that, the journalist no longer wants.
Thomas Sotto is not the only one to have left Twitter
He wasn’t the only one to make this drastic decision. Indeed, four years ago, Karine Le Marchand had also decided to leave the social network : “Twitter has become such a dumping ground for hatred that I no longer have the pleasure of communicating. The ultras of all stripes, insulting, capable of wanting the death of those who do not think like them (while brandishing the banner of tolerance), make this connection impossible. I don’t want to become tasteless in choosing my words, I don’t want to reduce my thinking, change my humor, become politically correct and deny myself. I will not give up giving my opinion”. Hoping all the same that Thomas Sotto returns quickly.
