Thor 5 soon in good hands? This great director is up for it!

A virtuoso director could well take the helm of Thor 5 if actor Chris Hemsworth agrees to return to Marvel Studios for a new film.

Thor Love and Thunder left its mark, but not in a good way. This is one of the most striking examples of the decline of the cinematic, and even television, universe of Marvel Studios. Even its lead actor, Chris Hemsworth admitted that the film was “too stupid”, and that the special effects were simply not up to par. And we cannot decently contradict him despite the presence of Natalie Portman in the cast who, it must be said, also messed up in this episode. Despite this, this fourth opus was not a commercial success and Thor 5 could be part of one of the next phases of the MCU.

Thor 5 could be directed by an action star

For the moment, Thor 5 is not officially in the works. And when we ask Taika Waititi, the director of the last two parts, for his opinion and to comment on his involvement, it is rather clear. He doesn’t know anything, and he has other fish to fry. “I don’t know if the rumor is true. But I know I won’t be involved… I’m going to focus on the other films I’m committed to.” did he declare.

A replacement anticipated by Marvel Studios? To the extent that Thor 5 has not yet been validated, no, but a contender has just become known. The great George Miller, director of the cult Mad Max saga, could see himself directing Chris Hemsworth in Thor 5. And even anything else, as long as he can find the actor who plays the new villain of Furiosa : A Mad Max saga.

“I would work with Chris on anything. I really would. He’s a wonderful actor. He has all the necessary skills. I mean you have to be physically athletic, but also emotionally and intellectually to play these very complex roles. And even to play any role. So I was very lucky with my entire cast, and in particular with the compatibility between Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris. (via Comicbook). Thor 5 or another film, George Miller therefore hopes to cross paths with Chris Hemsworth, who according to him has all the required qualities.

Chris Hemsworth wouldn’t turn down a new movie

And Chris Hemsworth, is he ready for Thor 5 despite the criticism leveled at the last episode? Well, yes, but it’s not unconditional. “I don’t want to keep doing it until people are so exhausted that they roll their eyes when they see me appear on screen. If an audience wants to see it, and if there’s something in it that we think is exciting and fun, then great. I don’t have the answer yet, but I would like. […] In any case, if I am offered something fresh, unique and unexpected for the character and his universe, I am completely open to the question » he indicated a few months earlier.

Chris Hemsworth also explained that it would take a change of tone for his return to be relevant. In other words, we should not go back to extremes as was the case with Love and Thunder. With George Miller directing Thor 5, his wish could be granted. Given all of the filmmaker’s incredible mastery of action cinema, this would be a huge catch for Marvel. But would the director be able to fit the mold of the superhero house? That’s clearly a whole other story…
