  • The planned strike by the Verdi union at German airports also affects passengers of the Lufthansa subsidiary Swiss.
  • This cancels many flights to and from Germany for Friday.
  • As a precaution, the flights on Friday from Zurich and Geneva to Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Hamburg and Hanover and back will be canceled, said a Swiss spokeswoman for the AWP news agency.

Around 3,000 passengers are affected by the move. These would be informed by Swiss about the deletions, said the spokeswoman.

Strike starting Friday

The strike by the German trade union Verdi is scheduled to begin early Friday morning and end on Saturday night. Several airports are therefore discontinuing regular flight operations for Friday. The German Airport Association expects a total of almost 300,000 passengers to be affected.

The Berlin and Düsseldorf airports are not on strike. The flights to the two destinations are therefore planned regularly – also with Swiss.
