THQ Nordic Announces Titan Quest 2

The closure of the American studio Iron Lore in 2008, two years after the publication of TitanQuesthad left fans of hack’n’slash mythological orphans. Let’s admit that the atmosphere of the title had everything to seduce, with its incredible Mediterranean atmosphere and its very clever progression system based on multiclass mechanics. A solid title which had been able to build up a solid fan base, but not large enough to save the studio. Subsequently, the franchise having fallen into the fold of THQ (already publisher of TQ1), the title did receive some DLC designed by Pieces Interactive (Atlantis, Ragnarok…), but connoisseurs were not mistaken, and the formula had become a bit dull. Hopes of having a titan quest 2 were therefore a fantasy, given that no more news about a sequel was given after the launch of Titan Quest Anniversary Edition in 2016. However, the transfer window of studio and license takeovers is sometimes good, since THQ Nordic has just revealed that a titan quest 2 was under construction, with the Munich teams of Grimlore Games at the controls.

Saint Seiya: Titan Quest Show

The change of production team should not modify the recipe for titan quest 2which obviously wants to be faithful to its illustrious elder, while bringing some touches of modernity as the saying goes. In addition to a major graphical update, of course, TQ2 will always be a hack’n’slash in sight top down. But it relies on a fundamental change in its progression mechanics to stand out. If the first opus relied on its system of multiple classes to create powerful characters, the second part will offer a mechanic of combinations of two “Masteries” (of “masteries”), which should allow you to build custom heroes, while being more versatile than TQ1. The Greek mythological framework (one of the great strengths of the original opus) will always be present, and we will come across creatures, demi-gods and gods straight out of this folklore. The presentation made to the press was an opportunity for Grimlore to insist on the fact that the loot will make sense, since each weapon, no matter how simple, can be upgraded to become a legendary weapon. And for the nyctalopes, know that there will be a day/night cycle.

What about the script? The Goddess of Vengeance, Nemesis, has tripped up and messed up by slaying all of Sparta’s greatest warriors. In doing so, she disrupted the work of the Three Fates, spinners of human destiny. It will therefore be up to the players to clean up among the hordes of creatures under the orders of Nemesis, until they settle their account with the Goddess herself.

For now, titan quest 2 does not have an official release date. The Grimlore studio should present gameplay in the coming months. The game is expected on PC, Xbox Series and PS5.
