Remember Threads? Yes ? No ? Well, the Meta application is still close to 100 million users.
Remember, at the beginning of the summer, Meta took advantage of (umpteenth) bad luck from Twitter (or X.com) to launch its micro-blogging network: Threads. The service quickly recorded impressive figures, even surpassing the 100 million registered mark. However, the enthusiasm for Threads quickly died down, not to mention the outright blocking of the application in Europe…
Threads approaches 100 million active users (according to Mark Zuckerberg)
Indeed, not content with having been launched undoubtedly too early, with many missing features, the Threads application was also blocked after only a few days in Europe, due to lack of an agreement reached with European regulations.
To date, Threads is still not available on the Old Continent, and could arrive in 2024. This does not prevent Mark Zuckerberg from (re)renewing all his confidence in the application.
Better yet, Threads would count today “ a little less » of 100 million active users, according to the words of its CEO Mark Zuckerberg during the recent conference call on his company’s quarterly results.
A little tackle to Elon Musk in passing
Launched somewhat hastily last July, Threads has gradually benefited from regular updates from Meta, including a web application, a search function and even an editing function.
Mark Zuckerberg added: “ I’ve long thought there should be a billion-person microblogging app that’s a little more positive “. A small note in the direction of Elon Musk and his X.com network, not necessarily exemplary from a strict point of view of benevolence and moderation.
It remains to be seen when Threads will (re)become available in Europe, and if Meta’s network can really manage to overthrow X.com in poor shape, already competing with another emerging network: Bluesky.
