Threatening strike at Lufthansa subsidiary on Easter weekend

The negotiations about more wages between the Austrian Lufthansa subsidiary and its crews are still dragging on. Now there is even a threat of a strike over Easter.

Actually, Austrian Airlines and its crews had already agreed on a new collective agreement last autumn. But then the Lufthansa subsidiary presented a very good result and the management should receive a bonus. This is how the on-board staff began renegotiating more wages – and they are still going on today.

Austrian had to cancel more than a hundred flights on Tuesday (March 28) at a staff meeting of cockpit and cabin staff. At the meeting, the 1,200 attendees then rejected the airline’s current offer, as a representative of the Vida union told the APA news agency. They also voted to strike if there was no agreement by Maundy Thursday (April 6).
