Between the free Epic Games Store games which drop every Thursday, the Amazon Prime titles offered on the same day to subscribers and the various gifts from stores like GOG, there is plenty to do. For many years, however, Steam has been keen to offer free weekends on its platform. The concept is simple, for a few days you can test the entirety of one or more productions free of charge, without any restrictions. These are three free games that are currently available on the platform, including one that you can keep for life.
Two games playable for free
Want a little distraction this rainy weekend? Steam has you covered. For a few days, the platform makes two games playable for free available to all users. Starting with Fallout 76, the MMORPG with a chaotic launch, which has continued to improve ever since. Bethesda tried at all costs to save its project that many thought was stillborn and it succeeded with more or less success. The game is constantly welcoming new content, the next one being Atlantic City and it has no shortage of ambitions. Before its launch on December 5, the publisher has decided to allow all Steam players to discover what Fallout 76 has become five years later. You have until October 30 at 5 p.m. to test the game for free. As usual, you will have access to all the updates and free content deployed over the years.
A second is also free on Steam until October 30 at 6 p.m. approximately: Space Engineers. A title more unknown to the general public, which has carved out a nice reputation among fans of open-world sandboxes. Here, players must build spaceships, planetary outposts, space stations, and everything else needed to survive in space. A title which therefore rather skillfully mixes creation and survival, while relying on an engine allowing everything to be assembled, disassembled, damaged and destroyed. Space Engineers, on the other hand, reveals its full potential in multiplayer mode.
A free Steam game to keep for life
In addition to these two weekend trials, another free Steam game can be kept for life. This time you will have to go through the Fanatical platform, which is once again offering a small gift during its sales. The lucky winner of this Halloween period is none other than 12 is Better Than 6. Again, the title is quite unknown. It presents itself as a mix of vertical scrolling shooter and stealth game set in the Wild West era. As violence and anarchy reign in 1873 North America, an American fugitive fights for survival.
