Three helpers injured – knife attack in Linz: 19-year-old arrested


After intensive investigations, Linz police officers were able to clear up the knife attack on June 27th on Linz’s main square, in which three young helpers were injured, some seriously. A 19 year old was arrested. He stated that he could not remember the evening because of excessive alcohol consumption.

In addition to intensive investigations, testimony from witnesses helped to clarify the knife attack. It turned out that a fourth person, a 19-year-old from the Linz-Land district, was among those involved in the attack. The accused was the 19-year-old’s partner.

The arrest was ordered by the Linz Public Prosecutor’s Office and was carried out on June 27 at 11.35 a.m. At the interrogation, the accused stated that he could not remember the evening because of excessive alcohol consumption. After consulting the public prosecutor’s office, he was taken to the Linz prison.

Three young helpers injured
During an argument on June 27, shortly after midnight on the main square in Linz, a fight broke out between several people. Two Linzers, 21 and 25 years old, noticed this independently and tried to intervene. She and a 20-year-old from the Urfahr area were injured by knife wounds.
