Three people died in the fire of a chalet in a campsite in Cantal

Three people died on Friday April 8 in the fire of a chalet at the Pleaux campsite (Cantal), we learned from the emergency services.

Alerted shortly before 2:30 a.m. on the night of Thursday to Friday, around thirty firefighters intervened for a fire at the municipal campsite of Pleaux, said a manager of the Fire and Rescue Operational Center (Codis) of Cantal. A chalet on the campsite in which two couples were staying was totally ablaze when they arrived on site, and three people in their sixties had died. A fourth person, seriously injured – a man also in his sixties – was transported to the Aurillac hospital center. The victims, from Charente, were regulars at the campsite, according to the regional daily La Montagne.

An investigation into the causes of death was opened and entrusted to the community of Mauriac brigades, supported in its investigations by the Mauriac research brigade, said the public prosecutor of Aurillac Paolo Giambiasi. The campsite had opened on April 2, as stated on its website. It includes eight chalets with sanitary facilities as well as nine mobile homes and fifty pitches for camper vans, caravans and tents.
