Thunderbolts: Florence Pugh gives a first look at the next Marvel film

Barely back from Arrakis, English actress Florence Pugh (Dune: Part Two) is now in Atlanta, where she is filming the next Marvel Studios film, Thunderbolts.

As the latter has been overdue for a while (its production having been pushed back due to Hollywood strikes last year), Marvel decided to let Pugh give his fans a little sneak peek of the filming.

Yelena’s return

As you might expect, the video Pugh and Marvel posted on social media doesn’t show much. The studio is accustomed to keeping the greatest secrecy around its productions, and is therefore not going to show us any exciting behind-the-scenes details.

But these two short minutes with Pugh still give a glimpse of her costume while the actress reprises for this film the role of Yelena Belova, already present in the film Black Widowthen in the series Hawkeye.

As she wanders around the set of Thunderbolts, Pugh also gives a glimpse of some structures that are being built for the purposes of the film. She then speaks with the director of the feature film, Jake Schreier, who stands in front of several screens, one of which shows an image of Yelena in action.

Both emphasize that the actress does not have the right to film the filming of Thunderbolts, which gently makes you smile because all of this is of course clearly orchestrated by Marvel. We can, however, appreciate the meta side of this video: Pugh claims here to secretly show behind the scenes of the next Marvel, and thus behaves like his rebel character in Thunderbolts.

See you in April 2025

As a reminder, Thunderbolts will follow the adventures of a group of supervillains and anti-heroes in search of redemption and sent on a mission by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), seen in Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

In the cast of the feature film, we find alongside Pugh other actors, most of whom have already been seen in the MCU: David Harbor (Alexei Shostakov), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Wyatt Russell (US Agent), Olga Kurylenko ( Taskmaster) and Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost).

We also know that Lewis Pullman (Top Gun: Maverick) and Geraldine Viswanathan (Drive-away dolls) joined the cast following the departure of Steven Yeun (Relentless) and Ayo Edebiri (The Bear), who were for a time attached to the project, in roles that are currently unknown.

The Thunderbolts film is scheduled to hit theaters on April 30, 2025.
