This mother cracked down on chaos in the nursery
No child likes to tidy up. When she got tired of asking her son to keep things tidy, this mother took radical action. There was applause on the net for it – but also sharp criticism.
Now between us: Everyone with messy children has dreamed of this, hasn’t it? Just pack all the stuff and boldly throw it into garbage bags, which then disappear? Sure, that’s pretty tough, of course, and somehow disturbing for the child – but it would, damn it, feel really good, too, wouldn’t it? For most of us, of course, the threat remains to motivate our child to clean up. However, the young mother Marie Tabatha turned the parents’ fantasy into a radical reality and attacked her son’s room with several garbage bags. She later presented the result on TikTok: a children’s room with an empty floor and empty shelves, in which there is no longer a single toy.
How much tidiness is too hard?
For reassurance: Tabatha did not throw away the garbage bags. Instead, she first deposited the collected toys in the basement, where they await her repentant child. On TikTok, the drastic educational measure not only earned her 3.4 million viewers, but also around 350,000 comments – and not all of them are friendly. As nice as the idea of ”Then I’ll throw it all away” can sometimes be, many parents are appalled that Tabatha punished their child with such a harsh measure.
Tidying up is not just a mom’s job
For her, however, it is not just about conveying order to her child. “Mom doesn’t raise disrespectful men,” she says at the end of her video and wants to change one thing above all: That boys in particular grow up feeling that it is mom’s (or women’s) job to clean up their mess.
